This
programme came to being upon reflections on the evident crack on the
social fabric. As pressures of life continue to increase at the
expense of social support systems, humans continue to realize blocks
to their full potential, hence the need for counselling as a support
system.
The programme was born out of the
realization that Justice & Peace work needs to go beyond the
boundaries of social order, to addressing individual pain for
sustainable peace to be attained.
The programme envisages A SOCIETY THAT ENJOYS MENTAL HEALTH.

Her primary objectives include among
others:
- To raise awareness amongst
helpers, community opinion shapers and the community at large on the
significance of counselling in peace and development.
- To integrate and harmonize
counselling in the different departments of the Diocese and to also
offer counselling services to the clients of the different diocesan
departments.
- To implement counselling
programmes in the communities in order to provide psycho-social
support for distressed people within the entire Diocese of Eldoret.
- Capacity building, training and
follow-up of community based psycho-social helpers.
- To provide support for the
counsellors in prevention of burn-out and stress. This will also
serve as fora for personal and professional development.
