 The
Diocesan Development Directorate was started as the development and
social services department in Kitale in 1976, but the offices were
moved to Eldoret in 1993.
The scope of this department includes initiation, coordination and
overseeing the implementation of development programs and projects in
the Diocese.
The Development Directorate's Functions are mainly:
• To have a community that is adequately
enlightened and well empowered to identify and participate in
addressing their human and development needs to uplift their living
conditions through participatory methodologies of development.
• To have a community that is aware and committed to self-reliance and
sustainability in their development initiatives.
• The establishment of structures and systems that enhance integral
human development, in line with the Diocesan mission statement.
"Evangelization and the pro-motion of integral human development".
• Coordinate, monitor and evaluate all development activities in the
Diocese.
At the moment, the Diocese has the following departments under the
development directorate:
• Health Services Department. (CBHC.AIDS,
SMALL HOMES (for physically handicapped children).
• Women and Gender Development Department: Single mothers, Revolving
fund, Savings and Credit
• Justice and Peace Department
• Water Programme
• Education Department
• Youth department
