Community Based Health Care Services (CBHCS)

This was started In January 1997. During its first year of operation, it carried out preparatory work in 5 pilot areas. It trained several trainers and established its office and field linkages- CBHCS is now universally recognized for giving the concept of primary health care a practical meaning.

The Primary Health Care concept emphasizes the importance of involving people in recognizing and resolving their health problems. This section aims to reach and encourage people to be self-reliant, to use what they know and therefore to improve their own health conditions.

Aids Education and Prevention Program

This section was started in 1999 on a pilot basis within the Eldoret municipality and gradually spread out to each deanery.
Its functions include:

• To coordinate STD/HIV/AIDS activities.
• To Promote education awareness on AIDS prevention.
• To organize counseling of AIDS victims and their relatives.
• To promote income generating activities for the unemployed AIDS patients.
