The
water department was established in 1997 with assistance from the
 Catholic
Diocese of Nakuru.
Its main functions include:
• Assisting in the provision of safe water in the rural areas for
domestic use and livestock through self-help initiatives.
• To coordinate the establishment of water committees.
• To assist the water committees promote community participation in
all activities of the community water projects and distribution,
towards the eradication of water borne diseases.
• To create community awareness on hygiene, sanitation and
conservation of the environment.
▪ To promote sustainability of water projects and schemes.
▪ Organize training in technical, financial management, book-keeping
and recording for sound maintenance, management and sustainability of
the projects.
